Hey guys, I was playing pokemon soul silver without any problems. Then I stopped playing and decided to copy the file with desmume and the rom and save, to make a backup, just in case. After that, I started the rom again, and it displayed the new game screen, it lost the memory. Any ideas on how I can get my progress back? I tried the old and the 'new' file, and even downloaded a new desmume (same version - DeSmuME 0.9.6). I always used the program extracted. Thanks for the help PS: OS: Windows Vista I think the problem might be with the 'copy the file' part, because I also lost the progress when I first started to play (and copied the game), just a few minutes in.

The file was (and still is) at the desktop (it was 1 file out of 3), I copied it to d:/etc. When the problem occurred.

Apr 15, 2016  Lately there have been several threads asking for help editing a DeSmuMe save file (.dsv). Because of a recent update in the emulator, PokeGen cannot properly edit those saves directly. I copied it to a flash drive before the mentioned above, and it didn't seem to cause any trouble, even thought the file at the drive is also at 'new game', that operation didn't change the original file. I see this topic is a little old, but I thought I would post a trick I use to protect my save game. Regularly save your state, I prefer to do it with the 'Save State As.'

Option so that I know it saves correctly and I know where it is and what it is called. Also use your in gave file save feature. If you run into any glitches load your most recent saved state, do not do anything, and immediately save in-game. Restart the game and load from your new in-game save file. If you save your states like this it can also protect you from any ini errors, all you have to do is delete the ini file and save in-game again. I've actually had serious bugs on one computer, saved my state and moved to another, used this trick, and the 2nd computer was able to make it through parts the 1st wasn't.

The reason I believe this works is because when a state is saved it recreates the entire game when loaded, including whatever causes it to glitch. An in game save only loads your stats and pertinent information to game progress. Elektor sdr software windows. If you create a save game from a glitched saved state then loading the new save game essentially reboots the game so that whatever is causing the bug is hopefully cleared.
